Imee Contreras, CMT-P
Imee Contreras is a MAPs Affiliate Teacher for the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Mindful Awareness Research Center and Assistant Teacher for the UCLA Psychiatry 175 Summer Course. She translated and recorded Filipino guided meditations that can be found on the UCLA MARC website.
She is a mentor for Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach's Mindfulness Teacher Training Certification Program and is currently mentoring over 30 future certified mindfulness teachers from various parts of the world. She co-teaches retreat to meet the requirements needed to qualify to the MMTCP.
She is a board member and co-teacher at Braided Wisdom, a BIPOC-led non-profit organization that empowers diverse communities by fostering transformational change through integrating indigenous wisdom teachings and cross-cultural mindfulness practices.
She is the mindfulness teacher at APEC Schools, training over 300 faculty and staff members who will assist her in guiding 8,000 students to integrate mindfulness into their academic and social lives. APEC Schools is the first in the Philippines to offer a full mindfulness curriculum to the entire school body of grade 7-12 students and faculty.
She is a UCLA-Trained Mindfulness Facilitator, a Community Dharma Leader of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and visiting teacher at East Bay Meditation Center. She is a Certified Mindfulness Teacher-Professional Level of the International Mindfulness Teacher Association.
